Synopsis

From the happy condition of the Venetian territories and Verona, to the revolutionary occupation by the armies of Napoleon Bonaparte.

The film retraces crucial historical events, such as the Napoleonic invasion of the Venetian territories (with related cruelty and plundering); the Masonic-Jacobin terrorist conspiracy, organized in Verona and aimed at causing a massacre, with the assassination of the Venetian and Veronese authorities.

The French bombardment of the city of Verona, while the alarm bell from the Lamberti Tower and from the bell towers of all the churches sounded the alert, all the way to the farthest province, calling the population to fight.

And, furthermore, the heroism of the fighters, the lack of assistance from Venice, with the flight of the Venetian rectors. The siege by 15,000 French soldiers, the surrender of the city, the trials, the executions. Up to the triumphant entry of the Austrians into Verona on January 21, 1798.
