Screening of the docufilm Le Pasque Veronesi in Cerea

The event, held in the southern Verona area, will open with blank musket salutes by historical troops in late-18th-century Veronese and Venetian uniforms (Verona Noble Guard, Schiavoni, and Dragoons), followed by a short introduction and a welcome address from the municipal administration, which sponsored and supported the initiative.

Filmed across Verona, Pescantina, Orgiano, and other Veneto locations, the docufilm was dubbed by Beep Studios in Rome (the late Giorgio Lopez) and subtitled in English and Italian (for the hearing impaired).
It was produced with the support of the Italian Ministry of Culture, the Veneto Region, the Municipalities of Verona and Oppeano, and other institutions.

The production involved Veronese theater companies and historical reenactment groups from France, Austria, and Venice, using accurate reproductions of period weapons (muskets and cannons) identical to those of 1797.

Presented on September 5, 2023, at the Venice Lido during the 80th Venice International Film Festival, the film retraces the dramatic events of the Pasque Veronesi (April 17–25, 1797),the largest uprising in north-central Italy against Bonaparte and the French revolutionaries.

It portrays the Jacobin conspiracies, betrayals, the flight of Venetian officials from Verona, acts of heroism and martyrdom, and the final capitulation of the city, besieged by 15,000 French soldiers from all over northern Italy.
It concludes with the show trials, executions, acts of vengeance, and finally, the first triumphant Austrian restoration in January 1798.

DVDs of the film, Contarina flags, and other historical and cultural materials will be available at the venue.
🎟️ Free admission.
